Tuesday 15th July

Myself and vpr were invited to do a PR event for plantronics, testing out one of their new products coming onto the market in late august, Plantronics Gamecom 777's. After a few hours traveling on the train from London, vpr and I arrived at Swindon, Dolby Digital studios at 11am. Once there we were met by the organisers of the event from Plantronics and Dolby. The staff were really helpful and had setup two top spec computers at the front of what can only be described as a Cinema.

There were around 50 chairs filled with the Plantronics Representatives from around Europe aswell as press who were to attend the launch of the new gaming headset. Two computers at the front either side of the screen where vpr and I will be playing a counter-strike: source match against another plantronics sponsored team, OverGame. The rest of the guys playing online, and after afew minutes setting up we were all ready to roll.

After setting up we were given 3D Glasses where dolby had a short movie to show, just like an imax cinema where everything jumps out of the screen, it was awesome. Once it was over it was time to shine!

We started the game in positive spirit, using the brand new headsets which I must add are one of the best, or the best gaming headset I've ever used (and im not just saying that!). With 5.1 surround sound, and dolby digital quality the headphones just felt like speakers attached to your head :P - A really nice design with a microphone that slides into the headset band.

It was nice having an audience and a big cienma projector showing the game live and I throughouly enjoyed the show case match! Hopefully we will be able to do it again sometime :), many thanks to Plantronics for putting us up and allowing us to test out your new headset!

So we finished around 3pm, and headed back to the Plantronics office, where we were given food and a load of cool little freebies (...everyone loves a freebie :D) then got the cab back to swindon station and a 2hour train journey back to London Euston.
