- Me after Setting up
6.55am – Woken up by Ms Sammy ‘Sammystar’ Uzzell (my girlfriend), who had been up for over an hour, getting ready, making food and preparing her self.I sat in bed and some weird kids program was on one of the music shows about some kid who was an animal rescue agent in training or some randomness.
Anyway I got in the shower, got my stuff together, doubled checked everything and we left the house about 8:10am.
11:00am – As we arrived to the event and stepped out of the car onto the pavement, we saw hordes of gamers (more like 20-30) un-loading their cars and unpacking their equipment. We got into the main entrance, signed in, got our badges/stickers/tickets etc went to our seats and set up. We had a few problems with Sammys pc due to the network card being disabled but infused Adz and infused Vanquish where on hand to give excellent help! (Thanks guys <3)
12:30pm – We decided to take a stroll around the event and we first went to the M festival room, it was filled with many computers, laptops, gaming chairs and new games to test and play, including a stand from our sponsors at infused Qpad where they are holding the Qpad shoot out. The whole room looked very impressive, I saw footage of Rise of the Argonauts, which looked amazing, really well designed game and looks like it could be really good, only problem is I didn’t get told if it was going to be online playable as well, so all I can do is hope.
I then sat down at the Virtua Fighter 5 stand where I put a bit of practice in for about half an hour.
- Sammystar Playing World of Warcraft on her first character.
1:00pm – My tournament is suppose to start now, I went to the place and only me and Sammy were entering, so the guy said give it until 3pm and see if any more show up.
2:00pm – Me and Sammy sat down at our computers, started her up her own world of warcraft account and got playing straight away, we did this for about 40minutes, managed to get both our new characters to level 9, I am playing a Night elf Hunter and she is playing a Night elf Druid.
3:00pm – Back to the WCG Qualifiers, got back to the place to find more people but they were all for Project Gotham Racing, which had a very good turn out compared to us. I then spotted a guy who looked ready to play Virtua Fighter 5, had his game pad and everything but had no idea where it was, I quickly ran over and got him to come play.
Now for the funny news, we found out that 4 people go through and all of us went through without having to play a game.
So me, Sammy and the new found guy also called James went and did some sparing matches, now to my surprise after having no real competition online, having a 192 – 2 games won with only two losses I was feeling rather confident, well this guy I played, said he rarely plays online and a lot of tough competition is coming in better than him, well he served me a good 5 games to 3, 5 being in favour of him, So I vowed to sammy to get some practice in and do the best I can for the team and for myself.
5:30pm – Well me and sammy got back on with world of warcraft, had a chat with some friends, had some food, walked around the centre a bit more to stretch our legs.
7:00pm – In the M festival main hall, they had the Rock band groups on, which I did some recording of and I will upload later, anyway they were very comical and everyone had a good laugh at them more than with them =D!
7:45pm - We grabbed infused/Qpad Sorcerer from the Qpad stand as all the other people had left him and took him to our table to save him from death by boredom.
8:00pm – back to the main hall to see the new release of an RTS on a console? OMG/WTF/BBQ? LOL!!!!
Yes I Did just say all that, RTS on a console, mainly PS3(Awful machine) and the great, full of perfection Xbox360, which they showed us a sneak peak of them playing it (on the 360 version)
Basically, this RTS can be controlled by your voice with a 95 to 97% voice recognition accuracy, which is amazing, you can also use the controller but clearly you will want to take full advantage of this great voice control system, leaving its pre-decesors in the dust.
I also managed to nab myself a handy Xbox360 face panel, which was thrown towards a guy behind me but my 6’4” height and extremely long arms managed to grab it, mwha =D Sorry dude, if your reading this but speed is needed.
9:15pm – Wind down time, we sat down, got our things together and got a taxi back to our Bed and Breakfast a few miles away in town, overall the day has been very productive and I learnt a lot about my self and what I need to do to progress in Virtua Fighter 5, I need to try find my opponents, which on the Xbox360 can be very hard, especially with the lack of Virtua Fighter 5 players.
I was very excited to meet all the infused guys as well and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for all the support they have given me since joining in June 2008, I would not be this confident or this relaxed with out them.
Good night, I will write more tomorrow.
